The Maine Mariners are among many of the ECHL minor league teams who have postponed their upcoming games due to a player’s strike.

The Bangor Daily News reports the strike comes as players aim to work out a new deal with the league which would increase player salary and protect their safety.

In a statement on the Mariners Facebook account, Saturday’s contest against the Lions of Trois-Rivieres has been postponed. There is no information on when the games will be rescheduled.

According to Maine Mariners Spokesperson Michael Keely, those who hold season tickets are able use their tickets when the games get rescheduled or redeem them for use at other games. Furthermore, those who purchased single tickets can request a refund via Ticketmaster.

Players will continue to strike until a contract between the ECHL and the players of Professional Hockey Players Association (PHPA), is agreed upon and signed.
