Maine Mulls Buying CMP & Emera

A public hearing took place Tuesday on a bill to buy Maine’s two largest electric companies and replace them with a consumer-owned utility.

Our info partners at CBS13 news report the state would use low interest bonds to purchase Central Maine Power and Emera Maine. The hearing took place in Augusta.

Under the proposal, an independent board would oversee the “Maine power delivery authority.”

All current employees would keep their jobs.
