PORTLAND, Maine (AP) – Three nonprofit groups that provide services for victims of domestic violence are among the recipients of more than $2.3 million in federal aid in Maine.

The federal Office of Violence Against Women is providing the grants, which are designed to support rape crisis centers and victims of domestic violence and stalking. The grants are going to New Hope for Women in Rockland, Partners for Peace in Bangor and Caring Unlimited Corporation in Sanford. Each organization is receiving hundreds of thousands of dollars in aid.

The state of Maine is also set to receive a grant of about $390,000 to assist rape crisis centers and organizations that help victims of sexual assault.
