Maine on track to break lowest annual unemployment rate record

Maine is on track to make history for the lowest annual unemployment rate ever recorded.

According to the Portland Press Herald, in spite of a small uptick in October to 2.8%, 2023’s unemployment rate has remained below 4% for the past 23 consecutive months, The lowest rate ever recorded was 2.4% from April to July of this year.

With a national average of 3.9%, Maine stands in 10th place for the lowest unemployment rate.

The state began recording the percentage of unemployed Mainers since 1976.
