Maine Democrats are poised to maintain control of state government after Tuesday’s elections.

That as Republicans say they’re still watching some races that have yet to be called, with hopes they could take control of the House of Representatives.

According the Portland Press Herald, Republicans had flipped three seats in the House and another in the Senate by Wednesday afternoon. Republican Sue Bernard of Caribou unseated Democrat Troy Jackson, but the chamber remains in control of Democrats, with the party holding on to at least 19 of the 35 seats.

House seats in Bucksport, Auburn and Raymond also went to Republicans, but a Democrat flipped a seat in the Wiscasset area.

Maine Republicans would need to flip nine seats in the House of Representatives to gain majority control. Democrats hold 67 seats in the chamber.
