More than 400 people are now hospitalized with COVID-19 in Maine, setting another record high for the state.
Maine’s Center for Disease Control and Prevention reported 403 COVID-19 hospitalizations in Monday’s update. 107 of those patients are in the ICU and 57 are on ventilators.
The Maine CDC does not report new case numbers over the weekend, and will provide its next update on Tuesday.
To combat increased spread of the virus due to the Omicron variant, the state is trying to beef up its testing, with a new drive-through testing clinic opening up at the Augusta Armory on Monday. Those tests are appointment-only.

This includes the Augusta Armory offering drive-through testing, on days when vaccination is not occurring, beginning Monday, January 10.

That site is also offering vaccinations on days when it’s not doing testing.
Last week, the administration of Governor Janet Mills announced it had purchased an additional 250,000 rapid tests to be distributed throughout the state. It comes at a time when testing is scarce due to rising demand.
