Maine State Agencies Going to North Carolina For Storm Relief

Maine is sending state Emergency Management and Forest Service teams to North Carolina to help with recovery from Hurricane Helene

CBS 13 News reports the group will join a team of Maine Forest Service rangers already there that’s removing hazards and restoring road access.

Emergency Management is sending a team of eight to Newton, North Carolina. Emergency Management Operations Director Steven Mallory says there’s a special bond among emergency responders.

Lucas Tree Experts has more than 100 employees helping clear roads right now.

The death toll from the storm has hit 216 with hundreds more missing.

More than half the deaths from the storm were in North Carolina, where fast-moving water destroyed homes and neighborhoods.
