The state of Maine is considering lifting a COVID vaccine mandate for healthcare workers.

According to the Bangor Daily News, the administration of Gov. Janet Mills is reviewing the rule and will consider proposing changes afterward.

Jackie Farwell, spokesperson for the Department of Health and Human Services, said there’s no timeline for any changes.

In 2021, Maine implemented a vaccine mandate for healthcare workers. The policy is among the more stringent in the country because it does not allow testing as an alternative for those who don’t want to get vaccinated.
