A Maine woman charged in the killing of a 2-year-old girl who changed her plea was sentenced to 20 years behind bars with all but 10 suspended.

The Bangor Daily News reports Savannah Smith was expected to plead guilty to manslaughter for the death of 2-year-old Kloe Hawksley on Thursday morning.

The young girl was found dead at her home in Bucksport in 2017. The cause of death was determined to be blunt force trauma. Smith, who was dating Kloe’s father at the time of the girl’s death, was arrested and charged in the death last year.

The newspaper reports that Smith reached a plea deal with the state.
