Maine woman sentenced to five years for sex crimes involving a minor

An Augusta woman who pleaded guilty to taking and sharing inappropriate photos of a young girl will spend five years behind bars.

According to CBS 13, Jessica Cox pleaded guilty to more than 20 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor and unlawful sexual contact.

Prosecutors said Cox recorded and sent sexual images of a girl who was younger than 12 at the time. The images were sent to Jared Jandreau, whose trial will begin next month.

Cox will have to register as a sex offender for life when she gets out of prison.
