MaineHealth to shift focus to vaccinating adolescents; Scarborough Downs clinic to close

On the same day Maine reached a milestone with half of residents 16 and older now fully vaccinated, MaineHealth said it’s shifting it’s focus to getting shots to younger people.

The health system announced Friday that it’s opening it’s vaccine appointments to adolescents between 12 and 15 years old. That as the federal government next week is expected to approve the use of the Pfizer vaccine for kids who fall in that age group.

MaineHealth will also be phasing out it’s vaccination clinic at the former site of Scarborough Downs. That clinic will close by May 20th, and MaineHealth will shift it’s vaccination effort to it’s existing vaccination site in Westbrook.

Up until then, they are welcoming walk-ins at the Scarborough Downs site Monday through Thursday for the next two weeks.
