PORTLAND, Maine (AP) Hundreds have gathered across Maine to honor the late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

Several speakers Sunday night at Portland’s Monument Square made it clear that the Senate should wait until after the election to confirm her replacement.

Marie Follayttar, a founder of Mainers for Accountable Leadership, told the gathering, “Honor her wish. Wait to replace.”

The gathering in Portland’s Monument Square was one of several vigils across the state, including Bangor, Augusta and Bar Harbor.
