AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) Heating oil is more expensive than a year ago in Maine, where residents are gearing up for winter.
The Governor’s Energy Office says the average statewide cash price is $2.88 per gallon, which is 14 cents higher than a month ago. It’s also up from $2.18 per gallon from a year ago.
The prices of kerosene and propane are up, too. Kerosene is $3.45 per gallon, up from $2.83 in September 2017. Propane is $2.77, up from $2.69 in September 2017.
The energy office cites several factors. It says exports of Iranian oil have dropped ahead of the second round of U.S. economic sanctions set for Nov. 14 and Venezuela’s oil production has dropped, while North American shale oil production remains flat.
