AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) Maine hunters are entering the last month of the year for several of the state’s small game animals.

The season foxes ends on Feb. 27. The last day for bobcats is Feb. 20. It’s also legal to hunt gray squirrels via falconry until Feb. 27.

Hunters who target snowshoe hare can continue to do so until Feb. 27 on Vinalhaven Island and March 31 everywhere else. The seasons for coyotes, woodchucks, porcupines and red squirrels never close.

The moose permit application period also begins in February. It runs until mid-May, and the hunt is in the fall.
