A Massachusetts man accused of killing a man in Portland will spend 10 years behind bars.

Amin Awies Mohamed of Roxbury, Massachusetts, was charged with murder after police say he shot Walter Omal in Deering Oaks Park in September of 2022. Last week, Mohamed entered an Alford plea for manslaughter as part of a plea deal.

An Alford plea means the defendant does not admit guilt, but acknowledges that there is enough evidence to find them guilty.
