One man is facing several charges in connection with an armed confrontation in Lewiston over the weekend.

The shooting happened on Bartlett Street around 3 a.m. Saturday. Police say 32-year-old Wany Wany Anyit pulled out a gun during a verbal altercation with another man and started shooting. It appears two others returned fire, hitting Anyit, who was taken to Maine Medical Center with gunshot wounds.

Police said numerous bullet casings and a discarded gun found at the scene belonged to Anyit.

Anyit, a convicted felon, was charged with reckless conduct with a firearm, illegal possession of a firearm, violation of conditions of release, and refusing to submit to arrest.

Lewiston police are trying to identify the other individuals involved.
