Man arrested after assaulting Lewiston librarian, police say

A man is accused of assaulting a librarian at the Lewiston Public Library.

Timothy Meeks, 35, was arrested Monday after police say he shoved a librarian into a bookshelf.

They also say he destroyed computers and tables on the second floor of the library on Lisbon Street.

Meeks left the library before police arrived, but officers found him at Davinci’s Eatery on Mill Street.

The Sun Journal reports that he was arrested and charged with assault, criminal mischief and violating conditions of release.

Meeks reportedly told police he got upset in the library because he thought people were staring at him.
