Man arrested after firing shots at state troopers during Waldo standoff, police say

A man reportedly fired shots at state police troopers during a standoff in Waldo Monday night.

The Portland Press Herald reports that the standoff on East Waldo Road began after police responded to a domestic violence incident.

The victim and her 3-year-old child reportedly fled the home and went to a neighbor for help.

When troopers arrived, 30-year-old Kote Aldus allegedly started firing shots from inside the house.

Aldus was arrested for domestic violence assault about three hours later.

Officials say one trooper returned fire. The Maine Attorney General’s Office is investigating, which is standard procedure for all shootings involving a police officer in Maine.
