Man Arrested for Trying to Sell Stolen GPS Unit from Union Wharf

Jessie Gerhrmann - Cumberland County Sheriff's Office

A 38-year-old homeless man faces charges after police say he attempted to sell a GPS unit he stole from a vessel at Union Wharf in Portland.

Officers say their investigation found the unit had been stolen between May 9-13. They then say they located Jessie Gerhrmann’s online listing of the GPS unit for sale Tuesday.

Police say they arranged to meet up with Gerhrmann at 1091 Congress Street and arrested him there without incident Wednesday.

He’s now in the Cumberland County Jail on a theft charge and Violation of Probation from a previous charge.
