A man was arrested in Bangor after a high-speed chase Sunday afternoon. The Maine Dept. of Public Safety says police attempted to stop 31-year-old Chad Delano of Florida and Maine on Route 2 in Etna, but he didn’t pull over.

The department said in a press release that the suspect previously led Piscataquis County sheriff’s deputies and Dexter and Newport police officers on high-speed chases as well.

Delano continued to a residence on Lapointe Road in Stetson, where he reportedly entered a residence and stole a vehicle.

The release said state police requested an “air asset” from the Maine Forest Service, which was able to follow Delano in the stolen vehicle.

According to the department, Delano drove to Bangor and pulled into the Circle K gas station on Broadway, where he attempted to steal another vehicle before troopers took him into custody.

Delano was transported to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor after he told troopers he ingested an unknown substance.

Delano was brought to Penobscot County Jail in Bangor and booked on some outstanding warrants.

He will be charged with eluding an officer, passing a roadblock, driving to endanger, burglary and theft.

No injuries were reported.
