Police arrested two people on armed home invasion and drug charges in the Portland area.

Police said 30-year-old Mohamud Abdullahi was arrested on Thursday. Detectives had probable cause to arrest Abdullahi on new felony charges related to an incident on Dec. 3 when he broke into a South Portland home with a gun and demanded money.

On Thursday, police tried to stop his vehicle in South Portland but he took off, leading police on a pursuit before abandoning his car in the Munjoy Hill area in Portland where he was taken into custody.

On Thursday night, police searched a home in South Portland where Abdullahi was located before he fled from police. They arrested 39-year-old Nur Hiss, who was arrested on drug charges and was found to be in possession of eight grams of fentanyl.
