ROCKLAND, Maine (AP) _ Maine police say they have apprehended a man who led a several-hour standoff at a hotel armed with a walking stick.

Rockland police say they’ve charged the 62-year-old Bangor man with criminal threatening and criminal trespass, among other charges. Authorities say the man led police into a standoff early Sunday after he barricaded himself in a room at the Trade Winds Inn.

Police say the suspect threatened officers with his walking stick before locking himself inside a room for about six hours.

Police say State Police tactical and crisis negotiation teams responded in an attempt to get the man to surrender. He was taken into custody a little after noon Sunday.
