A 44-year-old man faces numerous charges, including three felonies, after leading deputies on a chase and attempting to run away from officers twice near Turner.

The Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office says Daniel M. Jackson became confrontational at a traffic stop on Conant Road in Turner, refused to get out of his vehicle, and drove away, ramming two police cruisers in the process.

Deputies say Jackson led them on a chase through the outer roads of Turner, Auburn, and Lewiston before he was stopped by tire deflation devices.

They say Jackson attempted to run away, but was quickly caught and taken to a hospital for medical clearance, where he admitted to consuming a significant amount of illicit drugs before the traffic stop.

Deputies say he then broke a cruiser window and attempted to escape a second time while being driven to the Androscoggin County jail. They say he was caught again in the jail parking lot.

Jackson’s charges include:

• Operating Without a License – Class E
• Aggravated Criminal Mischief (3 counts) – Class C
• Refusing to Submit to Arrest – Class D
• Eluding an Officer – Class C
• Driving to Endanger – Class E
• Reckless Conduct with a Dangerous Weapon – Class C
• Criminal Speed – Class E
• Failing to Provide Correct Name/Date of Birth – Class E
• Escape – Class D
• Violating Conditions of Release (8 counts) – Class E
The series of events took place early Tuesday morning after Jackson was stopped by deputies at about 1:15 a.m.
