Police in Portland are investigating an assault on the city’s fish pier on Monday.

The department says officers were called to the pier at 300 Commercial Street for a report of a man being attacked. The victim said he was attacked by a man who was on a boat that was docked in the area. He suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said the alleged attacker, 62-year-old Stephen Thuotte of Sebago, was still on the boat when they arrived and refused to answer questions. He then exposed himself to officers before yelling expletives at them.

The man was preparing to leave in his boat but was pepper-sprayed and then tased by officers.

Thuotte faces a handful of charges, including assault and creating a police standoff.
