YORK, Maine (AP) A man has finally paid off a nearly 42-year-old Maine parking ticket.

The Portsmouth Herald reports that Gary Urgonski mailed a letter to the York Police Department, which included the ticket from July 28, 1978. Also inside was a $4 check, $3 for the fine and a $1 late fee.

Urgonski says he’s sure he deserved the ticket and intended to pay it, but forgot to over the years.

York Police Lt. John Lizanecz called Urgonski to confirm that the department received the check, however, it will not be cashed.

Urgonski believes the check will be framed and mounted on a wall in the department.
