Lewiston Man Wounded by Stray Bullet While Disc Golfing

TURNER, Maine (WGAN) State Police say a man who fired a bullet that hit a Lewiston man while he was disc golfing has been found.

Cameron Hart was struck in the face by the stray bullet while playing at the Stevens Mountain View Disc Golf Course on Sunday. He underwent surgery to remove the bullet from his cheek.

Police say a man who lives next to the course was target practicing with his 9mm handgun on his own property. Hart was several hundred feet away when the bullet likely ricocheted off an object on the man’s property and hit him.

The man’s name is not being released at this time. Troopers interviewed him on Sunday and said he’s cooperating with the investigation.

State Police will examine the gun and investigate further before bringing the case to the district attorney’s office. No charges have been filed.
