A man is dead after being shot by police in Hartland on Wednesday morning.

The Somerset County Sheriff’s Office says they were sent to search a home on Main Street around 5:30 a.m.

Deputies say that when they entered the home, they were approached by the homeowner, Isaac Robinson, who was carrying a knife.

They say they asked Robinson to drop the weapon, but he refused.

Two deputies then reportedly shot Robinson, who died at the scene.

The deputies who shot Robinson have been placed on administrative leave which is standard procedure.

The attorney general’s office will investigate the deadly force incident, with state police assisting with the criminal investigation, the sheriff’s office said.
