Man Rescued After Falling Off ledge at Water Fall in Oxford County

A 21-year-old Unity man has injuries after falling thirty feet from the ledge of a waterfall in rugged terrain near the New Hampshire border in Oxford County Wednesday.

Maine Game Wardens say six agencies assisted in the rescue of Brexton Getchell, who had to be carried 300 feet downstream in water through a steep gorge to reach safety.

Getchell was then flown to Maine Medical Center in Portland with injuries.

Wardens say  he fells from an area near Screw Auger Falls waterfall on a remote area near Grafton Township.

The say members of Mahoosuc Mountain Search and Rescue Team, Oxford County Sheriff’s Office, Bethel Fire and Rescue, Newry Fire Department, Maine DOT, and Life Flight of Maine took part in the rescue.
