A man charged in a deadly shooting in Portland in 2018 was sentenced Monday.

Tyrese Collins pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the death of 45-year-old Jack Wilson.

A judge sentenced him to 10 years with all but three-and-a-half years suspended.

Collins will also have to pay nearly $4,000 in restitution.

Collins, who was 19 at the time, shot Wilson during an argument near the Oxford Street Shelter.

He claimed he intervened in a dispute between Wilson and another man, who he was trying to protect.

He says he shot the gun in self-defense.

Collins was also accused of stabbing a man in Westbrook in 2017.
