A former Portland man was sentenced Wednesday to three years in prison for causing a nine-hour standoff at the Brewer Walmart.

The Dept. of Justice says Patrick Mullen, 52, pleaded guilty in February to being a felon in possession of a firearm.

The standoff happened in Aug. 2021, Mullen’s truck and camper were towed from the Ellsworth Walmart to the one in Brewer.

According to CBS 13, Mullen refused to pay the $600 towing fee and reportedly “freaked out on the driver.”

Officers said Mullen was in his truck with a firearm when they arrived, and he refused to exit the vehicle.

At the time, Mullen had three outstanding warrants.

In addition to prison time, he will also serve three years of supervised release.
