WINTER HARBOR, Maine (AP) One of two Maine men charged with killing a pug named Franky has been ordered to serve a year in jail.

Justin Chipman and another man were accused of taking Franky from their employer’s home while he was out of town, and then killing the dog while on a joyride in the employer’s sport utility vehicle. Chipman, who was sentenced Wednesday, was convicted by a judge of killing the dog in August 2018.

The other man is awaiting trial.
