LIMINGTON, Maine (WGAN) The York County Sheriff’s Office says a Colorado man is facing charges connected to a burglary.
Police say around 10:30 a.m. Tuesday morning, they responded to a burglary call on Ossipee Trail in Limington.
Police say the residence is a refurbished farm house that now has several apartments.
According to police, two men were being detained by the landlord and a tenant of one of the apartments when they arrived.
Police were told two separate residents heard a commotion coming from the landlord’s apartment. The first called the landlord, who said he was on his way home. The second armed himself with a shotgun and went to investigate.
Police say when the landlord got home, he retrieved a rifle from his residence and, with the tenant, went searching for the suspects.
Police say they found the two burglars in an adjacent barn and held them there until police arrived.
One of the intruders was a 17-year-old from Portland. The other was 30-year-old Daniel Washington from Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Police say both were charged with burglary, theft and aggravated criminal mischief.
Washington was taken to York County Jail and had an arraignment hearing today. The teen was taken to Long Creek Youth Development Center in South Portland.
