Portland — Shan Riggs is trying to be the first person to run the entire East Coast Greenway and he’s almost completed his journey.

The Greenway stretches from Key West, Florida to Calais, Maine.

Riggs started running on April 16th.

The trail stretches roughly 3,000 miles and Riggs says he’s running 40 miles per day.

This is all to raise money for the east coast Greenway Alliance, a small nonprofit that helps maintain the trails along the east coast.

“It’s a beautiful place to run and walk. It also needs a lot of community support and political support. And so, we’re trying to raise awareness and money to help with that whole endeavor,” says Shan Riggs.

Riggs is expected to finish his journey on July 2nd.
