Kennebec County deputies are searching for three men accused of holding a couple at gunpoint and tying them up while robbing a licensed marijuana growing operation in Belgrade.

Deputies say they were sent to the scene on Bartlett Road early Wednesday morning.

They say the couple was held at gunpoint while the men took all of the marijuana from the grow operation along with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Deputies say the suspects remained at the home for more than three hours before leaving. The couple was not injured.

They say the incident took place at a residence, which was determined to be a legal marijuana growing operation that is licensed through the state. The Maine Office of Cannabis Policy has been notified of the robbery.

Kennebec County deputies are following up on leads and processing evidence collected at the scene in an effort to identify and find the suspects.

They say dispatchers were challenged in gathering information from the caller reporting the incident, as who was speaking in Chinese Cantonese.
