BANGOR, Maine (WGAN) Bangor Police and Maine’s Drug Enforcement Agency say they’ve uncovered evidence of methamphetamine production in Bangor, in the eighth meth-related response in Maine this year.
Police spokesman Steve McCausland says Bangor Police responded to an apartment building at 36 Mt. Hope Avenue around 9:30am on Wednesday to a report of suspicious bags left in a hallway. They found two backpacks, a purse, and some clothing, as well as materials like muriatic acid, which is used to make meth.
The MDEA lab team arrived on scene to process the items for evidence, and took samples in for analysis. The materials were then turned over to the Department of Environmental Protection to be destroyed.
The MDEA says they’re confident that suspects will be identified in their investigation.
The agency responded to 58 meth lab sites last year, and 126 lab sites were dismanted in 2016.
