More than 50 Maine employees impacted by Wayfair layoffs

Wayfair says they’ll be laying off more than 50 employees in Maine.

In a statement released Thursday, the company, which sells furniture and home goods online, says recent changes will result in layoffs for 550 positions nationwide, which represents 3% of their global workforce. 55 of those employees work out of Brunswick, and another in Bangor. The company says those employees were part of specialized teams led out of Boston, and didn’t work with sales or service teams.

The company also said they are still hiring for roles they need filled.
