As of 8 a.m., Friday, Central Maine Power reported 52,780 customers without power. Somerset County was the hardest hit, with 13,464 customers without electricity. There were 9,434 with no power in Kennebec County, 6,946 in Oxford County, 6,756 in Androscoggin County, 6,396 in Penobscot County, and 4,728 in Franklin County.

There were 1,570 customers with no power in Cumberland County and only 27 in York County.

Central Maine Power reports its crews worked through the night to restore power to 33,000 customers, which would mean more than 85,000 customers were without power ay one time.. The utility says more than 100 crews will continue working Friday.

CMP is blaming fallen trees during Thursday’s storm as one reason for the high number of outages.
