The mother of Ayla Reynolds, a toddler who went missing in 2011, has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Ayla’s father and two of his family members.

According to the Portland Press Herald, Ayla was last seen by her father at his mother’s house in Waterville. Her body was never found, and no one has been convicted in the case.

A judge declared Ayla legally dead in 2017 and Ayla’s mother, Trista Reynolds has since filed a wrongful death civil lawsuit against Justin DiPietro, his mother, Phoebe DiPietro, and his sister Elisha DiPietro.

Ayla was reported missing twelve years ago today, sparking the largest and most costly investigation the Maine State Police has conducted in the state’s history.
