MADISON, Maine (WGAN) Police say a Madison man who crashed his motorcycle over the weekend had been drinking.

The Bangor Daily News reports 59-year-old George Chestnutt of Madision was riding his motorcycle down Nichols Street late Saturday night when he lost control and hit the curb, throwing him and his passenger, 49-year-old Crystal Drbal of Florida, from the bike. Police say neither of the two were wearing a helmet and that speed and alcohol were factors.

Drbal was taken to the hospital with a severe head injury and Chestnutt was not injured.

Chestnutt was charged with OUI.

Police are still investigating and were working to reconstruct the crash.
