Slick conditions during Thursday’s snowfall are being blamed for a series of crashes that shut down the Maine Turnpike in Gray for more than an hour.

Maine State Police responded to a three-vehicle crash reported at mile 59 northbound around 12:40 p.m.

As traffic slowed down in the area, a second crash occurred involving five passenger vehicles and two tractor-trailers.

In all, two drivers were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
