No Injuries Following Boat Fire in Hartland

HARTLAND, Maine (WGAN)  No injuries after a boat caught fire on Morrill Pond in Hartland Wednesday.

Game wardens say around 3 p.m. Wednesday, 43-year-old Christopher Gibson was towing his son and his son’s friend on a tube behind the boat when the fire started.

All eight people on board, five of whom were under 16, were able to escape safely.

The Hartland Fire Department as well as nearby boaters helped all the passengers get to shore safely.

Game wardens say the cause of the fire in the 18-foot 1997 Rinker has not been determined, but they believe the fire started in the engine compartment.
