North Carolina man sentenced in Maine for abusing infant

BANGOR, Maine (WGAN) A man who who pleaded guilty to assaulting a 6-month-old boy in Orono has been sentenced.

According to WVII, 27-year-old Cyree Hansley of North Carolina entered his plea in a Bangor court on Tuesday after expressing remorse for his actions. He was sentenced to nine years in prison with all but four suspended and five and a half years of probation.

Hansley pleaded guilty to aggravated assault and assault on a child under the age of six. The boy’s mother says she left him with Hansley in January of 2020 and returned home to find him unresponsive.

The child had suffered a skull fracture, multiple broken bones, and had a stroke that left him in the ICU. The boy is also partially blind as a result of his injuries and suffers from several other physical disabilities.
