Officer who shot, killed Dresden man acted in self-defense, Maine AG says

Maine Attorney General Aaron Frey has ruled that a state police detective was justified in shooting an armed Dresden man.

According to CBS 13, the shooting occured last summer when police tried to serve an arrest warrant for 28-year-old Frank Foss Jr.

Officials say Foss was in the woods outside a Chelsea home when he pointed a gun at state police detective Scott Duff.

The detective fired two shots with one of them hitting Foss in the abdomen.

Police say Foss then shot himself in the head.
