One Killed in Buckfield Crash

BUCKFIELD, Maine (WGAN) A fatal crash in Buckfield Wednesday afternoon left one man dead.

Police say 24-year-old Alexander Pond was driving a Volkswagen and died after crossing the center line on Route 117 and hitting a pickup truck. Police say the driver of the truck, 55-year-old Stacy Cobb of Wayne, suffered non-life threatening injuries.

State Police Spokesman Steve McCausland says police are still trying to determine why Pond crossed the center line.

Route 117 was closed for over five hours.
