SANFORD, Maine (WGAN)  The State Fire Marshal’s Office says a 53-year-old Sanford man died after a fire destroyed his home.

Police say the body of Charles Kerrigan was found in what was left in his garage on Deering Neighborhood Road.

A neighbor reported the fire around 10 a.m. Sunday, and both the home and attached garage burned to the ground.

Fire marshals do not expect to determine a cause of the fire because of the extensive damage.
