OLD ORCHARD BEACH, Maine (WGAN)  Old Orchard Beach Police say they are investigating a report of someone impersonating a police officer.

Police say on Tuesday night around 8:30 p.m., it was reported that a female was pulled over by a dark Crown Victoria with dark tainted windows and a red and blue light bar in the front interior dash.

Police say the female and male passenger were approached by a man in plain clothes that reportedly introduced himself as a police officer.  Police say they didn’t give their name or any identification, however.

Police say the possible impersonator reportedly searched the car, then let the two people go.

Police say further information couldn’t be verified as the complainant didn’t want to cooperate with further investigation or be identified.

Police say there is no record of a traffic stop being made at that time along East Grand Avenue and the suspect vehicle doesn’t match any belonging to Old Orchard Beach Police or surrounding agencies.

Police say the incident is under investigation.  Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
