The 2020 Maine Lobster Festival in Rockland has been canceled due to the pandemic.

Festival officials said on Facebook the decision was not made lightly and they’re “deeply disappointed,” but keeping members of the community safe and healthy is the right thing to do.

Even though the event this year has been cancelled, they plan on continuing their college scholarship program, supporting local students in their pursuit of higher education.

Officials say they’re confident the event will go on as scheduled in Aug. 2021, and they look forward to celebrating with festivalgoers next year.
