Two men in Penobscot County are accused of taking payments for home repairs that they did not finish.

According to the Bangor Daily News, 51-year-old Eric Bartell of Bangor and 34-year-old Lee Smith of Lee were indicted Wednesday on one count each of theft by deception.

Prosecutors said Bartell took $6,000 from an 80-year-old woman for a roof repair that was never done.

Smith allegedly took a payment for work on a camp in Lakeville Plantation without ever working on the project.

The pair face up to five years behind bars and $5,000 in fines. They may also have to pay restitution if convicted.

Their arraignment dates have not been set.
