WELLS, Maine (AP)   An advisory committee is recommending that Wells High School ditch its Native American imagery while keeping its Warrior nickname.

The committee released its results after the Portland Press Herald informed the panel that it was likely violating the state’s open meetings law by declining to disclose the secret vote. The outcome will be presented next month at a school committee meeting.

The Wells High School Warriors and Skowhegan High Indians are currently the only high schools in Maine still using Native American imagery.
