Pedestrian Has Life Threatening Injuries in Fairfield Crash

A 49-year-old Fairfield man has life-threatening injuries after being hit by a vehicle while crossing Main Street.

Fairfield police and Fairfield-Benton Emergency Services were called to the scene near the post office at about 4:38 p.m. Friday for a report of a crash involving a car and a pedestrian.

Investigators said Dana Dodge was crossing Main Street outside of a crosswalk and was wearing dark clothing when he was hit by a vehicle driven by 39-year-old Sean McGlaughlin of Fairfield.

Dodge was taken to MaineGeneral Medical Center and later transferred to Maine Medical Center in Portland with life-threatening injuries. McGlaughlin was not injured.

Maine State Police are reconstructing the crash. Police said speed and impairment are not believed to be factors, and no charges have been filed.
